Fun for all: |
The Red Deer Highland Games this year will have our very own pub, McPherson's Pub, where people can socialize and drink responsibly. We are excited to have Celtic Jam Jars as our live entertainment in McPherson's Pub. Celtic Jam Jars is a fun, lively little band consisting of good friends & mothers and daughters who were raised in the same small Alberta prairie town. The band started playing traditional Irish and Scottish music in 2013 and has been known to throw in the occasional modern day song that captures the Celtic spirit. Join them in raising a glass (or a jar as the case may be) in celebration of great friends and good music! Be sure to join the Red Deer Scottish Country Dancers for some great fun and socializing, and take to opportunity to show off your dancing skills. |
This year we will have the 78th Fraser Highlanders Senior Squad, who will be setting up a small, period accurate village, and will be doing their signature musket salute during the day. We will also be having members from Titans Rugby there to promote the great sport of Rugby. So bring the kids and learn more about this Celtic sport. We are excited to have an area designated for the young, and young at heart, that will have entertainment all day. We will have a magician that will preform shows throughout the day, plus make balloon animals, and generally entertain anyone near by. We will also have Celtic themed and Canada 150 colouring pages, and there may be prizes for exceptional artwork. You may even spot Nessie at our craft table! And what is more Scottish than golf? We will have a mini golf area set up to test your skills. For those wee lads and lassies who feel strong, there will be a caber and a haggis toss. There will also be a tug o war to settle sibling rivalries. Feel free to come and join us for fun, entertainment and prizes! As part of our family friendly entertainment we will be having the ever popular sheep dog demonstrations, and as always, there are the Athletic Events, Pipe Bands, and Dancing. Don't forget to join us for the opening ceremonies, where you will see pipe bands, dancers, and dignitaries all together in one place at the same time! |
